Look at a hill
Keep the picture still
And see a kill

A big wooden cross stands up high
Upon it lays a decaying body
Decaying, but see it move and hear its cry
Decaying, but its flesh still bloody
Such horrific picture to regard
But your eyes need to stay fixed on it
For you have been placed on guard
Making sure that no life comes from it

Look at a hill
Keep the picture still
And see the kill

This most desolate of all hills
Far from all lights and sounds
A Hazardous zone that brings chills
Far from all sites and towns
Surely this was a crime scene
And a spectacle for a multitude
As there is evidence of a great scheme
And the climax of a long-lived feud

Look at a hill
Keep the picture still
And see the kill

Now you notice some familiarities
That thing left hanging upon that tree
Seems to share intimate traits with thee
You share past wants, likes, and activities
Dreams, desires, and abilities
But mainly, past identity
See the old man decaying upon that cross
Upon which the Lord left him to die

Look at a hill
Keep the picture still
And see the kill

“ We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.”
