Part 5

” There is One who has heard your cries
And he alone has felt your pain
He watched you and watches over you
When you look outside and wait for the rain”

The orphan is confused. “What is this creature saying?”
As her mind refuses to believe what she is seeing?

“The rain has returned my child
This dry garden will once again be watered
Far too long hidden in the wild
Ruled by a beast that will soon be slaughtered”

“Who are you? And where are you from?”
After finding courage, the orphan inquires
“Where was he when we first heard the battle drum?”
Her emotions rise like forest fires

“MOTHER PERISHED BY CANCER!
I HAD TO CARE FOR MY BROTHER AND SISTERS!
SELLING MYSELF WAS THE BEST OF ANSWERS!
NOW YOU’RE HERE TO TAKE CARE OF SOME BLISTERS?”

Sorrow, anger, and pain overwhelms the child
She rolls up her sleeves to reveal many scars
A show of the gains from her exile
As she refuses to give up those precious memoirs
