When wilt thou dawn oh long expected day?
When with the trump this earthy shroud shall roll away?
When with the angles we will sing and say
Thou art our Lord and King for ‘ere and ‘ay?
When wilt thou dawn oh long expected time?
When sorrow we shall trade for the sublime?
When earthly beauties seem but filth and grime
In light of wonders great and joys divine?
When wilt thou dawn oh long expected hour?
When Christ returns in glorious might and pow’r?
When kings of earth will in His presence cow’r?
When we shall live as children in his care?
Oh Lord come quickly! Oh time draw near!
We bear our cross, through trials severe
Yet still we hear Christ’s words upon our ear
Verily through it all, still I am near.
