What have I done? The man was innocent!
What evil led me to such hateful pact?
All these years, was I so different?
Is this microcosm of the raging war between words and facts?
My actions for years proved compassions
I walked with him and shared his passion
He trusted me in much and little
But now I have made him belittled

Oh poor in spirit indeed
The guilt and the shame is chocking me
And I deserve this chain of depravity
I shall lie here in the potter’s field

What have I done? The man was my friend!
What fear has led me to such hateful act?
All these years, was I so different?
Is this microcosm of the raging war between words and facts?
My actions for years proved loyalty
I was the one who proclaimed his deity?
He trusted me in much and little
But I saw Him belittled

Oh poor in spirit indeed
The guilt and the shame is chocking me
And I deserve this chain of depravity
So, to His Spirit shall I yield

The sorrow that flows out of worldly grieve will lead one to a dreadful end
But the sorrow that flows out of godly grieve will lead one to repentance
On that dark day, two men were guilty of betraying their friend
But only one saw the sentence
