Broken spirit by a broken mind
Pain and suffering everywhere to find
Broken spirit but man so kind
Broken mind and now so blind
Childhood lost by childhood rough
Broken mind added to the cost
Choices made and conscious fade
Childhood sheltered under the shade
Broken world’s a dreamer’s trap
Broken mind now finally snapped
Come from the shade you broken child
‘Tis time to trade this mind so defiled
In the fall of Adam, the image of God in man was severely disfigured, and that disfigurement effects all of Adam’s descendants. Man’s will turned hostile toward God, subdued by his sinful desires, and incapable of setting himself free from that mother of all falls. The fall turned the good that God created into the corruption that we see today.
Since man is more than cells and tissues, we can all agree that when some of those cells and tissues are damaged, man is still a man; hostile toward God, subdued by his sinful desires, and incapable of setting himself free from that mother of all fall. The sinful mind can still be at work while the brain is damaged.
The Gospel is the solution for the broken spirit by the “broken mind”.
