Olympic stadium, circus maximus.
Fighting men and beasts with axes
Cheer the huntsman, bring the prisoners,
“Let the games begin!”
Poets, comics, gods and goddesses
(cross-dressing men who could not hold office).
Rome on fire, mass suspicion,
“Let the Christians burn!”
Grand-scale drama, no diorama,
eternal life or death the gamble.
Run the race, fight the beast,
“Worthy is the Lamb!”
When the curtain falls, all to One will bow,
the heavens will roar in applause.
Stronger than them all, yet one with the crowd,
”He broke the roar of death’s jaws!”
