Heaven and earth are torn apart
as requests reach His ears.
This child of God pours out his heart
knowing, believing He hears.
What God is like our God
to whom all flesh shall come?
What rock is like our Rock
who hears prayer? None.
I heard a sound that struck my heart,
pain and anger took hold of me.
My spirit rose and I had to start
to pray, or it would be the end of me!
I beat with fists of earnest unrest
the King’s throne room floor!
I grabbed with white knuckled flesh
the altar’s nearest horns!
Like fire in my bones I could not withhold,
incense caught and smoke arose!
Claiming promises and truths of old-
a fervent spirit illumines coals.
“What God is like our God
to whom all flesh shall come?
What rock is like our Rock
who hears prayer? None.”
These things I say, I pour, I quote,
“what shall come of these?
You are the same, the God of hope,
behold my earnest pleas!”
Turning now from my petition
I begin to truly thank Him.
I trust “accordingly He’s given”
before I see I thank Him.
Thus we rend the heavens daily
and in special times of prayer.
Lift your voice up- He has pity!-
He truly is the “LORD is there”! (Ez. 48:35)
